It's An Election Year

We're in the primary season in South Carolina. Sometimes we get discouraged about our country, our government, our politicians, etc. I do – often. Things have changed so much since I was in elective office, and I’m not happy with the current situation. But – we’re still the best country in the world. More opportunities, more freedoms.
But, we are not perfect. Not by a long shot. Sometimes I cringe when I hear or read the news. Sometimes I want to shout, scream, throw things. Those particular actions do no good. What does some good is voting, getting involved in the process. Not just complaining on social media but casting your ballot.
Don’t let anyone ever convince you that your vote doesn’t count. My dad lost an election by NINE votes one time. This was back before there were mandated recounts in such situations. Dad could have asked for a recount, but he didn’t. He accepted his defeat and moved on.
Whatever your party affiliation, vote in South Carolina’s runoffs. Early voting today and tomorrow. “Regular” voting on Tuesday, June 23rd.
Don’t miss the opportunity to make a difference. It will happen. It may be slow, but it will happen.
In Australia, people are required to vote. It’s not a requirement for us, but it’s a privilege we should take advantage of at every opportunity.
